Learning and being safe near water

 
 

Goals

Here's a quick list of what you will be doing in this course.

  • Have fun working together and show off what you do safely!
  • Explain what a lake, stream and the sea is by doing a jigsaw.Fun in Safety
  • Show how you would mind yourself and your friends near water by picking safe ways of doing things from a list.
  • Tell where you could get help by drawing a picture or sending in a photo of the lifeboat, lifesaving logo, and the coastguard number for example. On the Pier
  • Tell a story about going onto the strand or out in a boat for the day and you have to find out the forecast and when high tide is.Fun in Safety
  • Explain what it is to drown, get too cold and too hot to someone who is not from planet Earth!
  • Take photographs and collect stories from people on Cape showing things that get in your way on the pier or boat and how tides or sun might be dangerous.
  • Understand safety items.
  • Show how to be safe near water by getting the most points you can in a computer game.On the Pier
  • Match pictures and hear about the beautiful animals that we have in our coastal waters.
  • Help make a CD together to show other kids how to be safe near water by using the internet, the library, photographs, stories and games to help them.
